Abstract

Manual water tank level management is limited in terms of real-time monitoring and remote control. This study aims to design and evaluate an Internet of Things (IoT)-based water level monitoring and control system integrating an HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor, ESP32, relay module, submersible pump, solenoid valve, I2C LCD, and Blynk application. The system operates in automatic, manual, and setting modes. Experimental tests were conducted at 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% set points in automatic mode and under several initial water-level conditions in manual mode. The evaluated parameters included water level, volume, filling and draining time, flow rate, and actuator response. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics based on average values. The results demonstrate that the system can monitor water level in real time and control tank filling and draining in both automatic and manual modes. In automatic mode, average filling times at 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% set points were 18.67, 40.67, 62.33, and 85.67 s, respectively, while average draining times were 86, 149.67, 201, and 257.33 s. Remote communication and control through Blynk were successfully tested using a cellular data-based Internet connection over an approximately 30.3 km distance, subject to network availability. These results demonstrate the feasibility of ESP32–Blynk integration for remote water tank monitoring and control.
